Medical Wigs FAQ

Medical Wig Questions Answered

What makes a wig “medical”?

Medical wigs (often referred to as cranial prostheses) are designed for individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions. They typically feature softer linings, lightweight caps, and more natural density suitable for sensitive scalps.

Can I use my FSA or HSA funds for my wig?

Yes—most clients can use their FSA or HSA benefits to purchase a medical wig, depending on their specific plan guidelines.

How do I know which wig is right for me?

That’s exactly why I recommend booking a consultation.
Medical wig selection involves cap size, comfort, density, and lifestyle considerations. Personalized guidance helps you avoid ordering the wrong style.

Can I return a medical wig?

Due to hygiene standards and manufacturer policies, returns are limited. Wigs must be unworn, unaltered, and in original condition.

Please review the return policy before purchasing.

How do I measure my head size?

You will need a soft measuring tape. Measure:

• Circumference
• Front to nape
• Ear to ear

A detailed measurement guide is provided during consultation or upon request.

Will the Medical wig look natural?

When properly fitted and selected based on your face shape, skin tone, and hair loss pattern, medical wigs can look extremely natural. Proper cap construction and density are key — which is why curated selection matters.

How long will my wig last?

With proper care, high-quality synthetic wigs may last 4–6 months of daily wear. Human hair wigs may last longer with maintenance.

Care instructions are provided with your purchase.

Are Medical wigs tax deductible?

Yes—medical wigs (cranial prostheses) may be tax-deductible as a medical expense when prescribed for hair loss due to a medical condition; check with your tax professional for eligibility.
